I'm speaking to those of us who should be united. That would be the members of the ever shrinking middle class. The auto worker, teacher, police man, bus driver, carpenter, electrician, maintenance worker construction worker, postal worker, truck drivers and all the others. It's time we all take a hard look at just how bad our way of life is shrinking. It's time we join together, stand up united, and fight for our way of life. But how? Who's the enemy? Let's take a look at some facts.
In 2007, the Business section of the New York Times reported that the "Income Gap was Widening". They reported the total income for the US went up 9% in 2005. It stated that the top 1% of American's are those who made over $348,000. They received the largest share of national income since 1928. It's goes on to say that the top 10% were those who made $100,000 or more. They received a level of income share not seen since before the great depression. The bottom 90% (Those who are paid less than $100,000) of American's income decreased. That's right, that's no typo. This report shows an increase in income for America for the year 2005 but 90% of those Americans received a decrease in income. Only wealthy people benefited from this increase." The public’s concern is buttressed by a recent Congressional Budget Office estimate that the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans have nearly tripled their incomes since 1979, while the bottom 80 percent of earners have seen their share of the nation’s total income decline." ~ ABC NEWS
Are wealthy people the enemy? Should they be considered our enemy just because they earn more money? Absolutely not. We should not consider wealthy people an enemy just because they are successful. It's not what they have it's what they have done.
